Component Management Software or CMS is a CADCAM software application dedicated to the production and manipulation of DSTV CNC file output format. The DSTV NC file format is a German public file format developed specifically for the purpose of communication between design software and CNC Machines typically used in the fabrication of structural steel. The DSTV File format has become the North American as well as international standard for communicating with Beam lines, drill lines, coping machines as well as angle lines. It is also used by a variety of plate cutting tables and plasma machines
CNC machines such as Peddinghaus, Controlled Automation, Ocean Machines, Ficep, Burlington Automation as well as others all currently have pre-processors that read the DSTV file format.

CMS can also be used as a front end tool by detailers requiring both the use of Autocad® as a primary detailing tool as well as the production of DSTV files. The user can define the steel part in CMS, produce the required DSTV file as well as a DXF drawing file which is then used by the detailer to dimension and print out
CMS stand alone version is both a viewer as well as an editor of DSTV files. CMS allows the user to rapidly create steel components, drill holes, slots, internal cuts and border cuts in w shapes, angles, channels, HSS as well as plates CMS also supports Stencilling text as well as Marking including powdering and scribing
In Addition to the stand alone version mentioned, CMS is also available as an add on to both AutoDesk Inventor ® as well as Solidworks ® (Dassault Systemes SolidWorks Corporation ) thus allowing the user to instantly produce DSTV file for structural steel shapes present in either Inventor or Solidworks 3D models.
Both Inventor® and Solidworks® are widely used 3D modeling and design software applications used primarily as a mechanical modeling and design tools, Users often have the need to add structural steel shapes to their models as well as produce the associated DSTV files required. CMS MBS edition allows the user to read and convert any plate or hot-rolled component defined by MBS to DSTV format either individually or in a batch mode Further more CMS contains XML filtering commands allowing the user to easily extract the exact items required
